Operated by Methodist Home for Children in partnership with the Department of Public Safety, the assessment center provides a comprehensive juvenile assessment in a residential setting with the goal of matching the youth to the most appropriate services in his or her community. The Center serves Level II offenders between the ages of 10 and 17.



Assessment Counselors serve as the primary caregivers to youth being served by the Assessment Center.  They are responsible for engaging youth in a variety of activities to enhance the assessment process. Duties include implementing direct care services according to individualized service plans, engaging youth in assessment activities, implementing a non-punitive environment that motivates youth, and modeling appropriate moral, ethical, and professional values for youth.



Qualified candidates will be at least 21 years old AND

  • Have a Bachelor's degree and one year of experience, OR
  • Associates degree and two years of experience, OR
  • High School Diploma/GED and three years of relevant experience.

This position requires a valid NC driver's license, the successful completion of required screenings and trainings, and the ability to work a flexible schedule, including 12-hour shifts, weekends and holidays.
